  1. There was a man named Mellett living in Esker long ago. One day he went in through the woods of Castle MacGarrett getting a stick for a flail. An other man saw him and told Lord Oranmore about him. The Lord got vexed and evicted him, (Mellett) and put him out on the road and knocked down his house so that he could not come back again. Mellett went to Crossboyne and he got a barn from some man and lived there a while. Then he went to Corroughhadooey and built a little house of his own and lived there.
