  1. Ballindine was a much bigger village than it is now. On every road that leads from Ballindine there were rows of little houses and it was such a great thing to see a lot of houses that the young people used dress up and come to Ballindine as there used to be hurlings and patterns. There was a row of houses along where the railway is now for about a mile as a far as a well called tobar an bhiolair. This well got its name from all the water-cress that grew around the spot. Some of the ruins are around Ballindine yet of the houses as the people were evicted and that is what has left Ballindine so small now. There were disk makers, tin and black-smiths
