  1. Lord Kilmaine was the landlord of this townland some years ago, and he was regarded as a very kind and charitable gentleman. His father and grandfather were also landlords of this district.
    There is a story told about Lord Kilmaine which shows his charity to the poor. One of his tenants was a very poor widow woman who had a big family and who was unable to pay her rent for eleven years. At last other tenants started complaining about having to pay while she was being allowed to go on without paying. The amount she owed was £44. The landlord them asked her for £4 and let her off £40. The poor woman was overjoyed and at once paid the £4 for which
