  1. When the potatoe failed in the famine year the Irish people got potatoe from England and Scotland for seed for the following year.
    The people of this locality suffered very much in that year and hundreds used to be seen lying dead or dying on the roadside. These poor people never used to be put in a coffin but just put in to a hole with some straw around the body.
    There is a short story around here saying that many a time a daughter would be seen carring her dead mother
