  1. One day about thirty years ago - as a band of men were out hunting near Mayo Abbey they rose a hare but she went so swiftly that she kept ahead of the hounds for some distance. At last one of the hounds was nearly up to her when she escaped through the window of an old house. Just as she was almost through the hound bit her on the back but still she kept on.
    The the men at once entered the house and found an old woman sitting on a box. They asked her had she seen a hare but she said she had not. Then the men searched the house but
