eels have manes. When a big eel is caught the skin is taken off him and it is used for lashes of whips. It is also used for joining the buaibeeán and the colpán on a flail and it is used for curing tálach. Long ago people used to say there was a master eel in Welshpool lake. Every night the master eel and all the other eels used to go up on the bank and crawl along and start whistling.
