- (continued from previous page)Hundreds of people came to see them take it up. The first man went down and when he came up he said that there was a snake around the pan of gold. The second fellow went down and he said the same. When the third man went down he had it in his hand and the snake made him leave it back.
The fourth man went down and he got the gold and brought it to the top just when he had it on the top the snake made him leave it back. People often tried it but never succeeded because there is a snake watching it. P. Masterson, Manulla
