- This information was given me by Very Rev. Canon (?) Reidy - who roofed part of the abbeyThe Abbey was roofless for many years as I have said - and there was a prophecy that if the Abbey were roofed, the family of Stanton or Staunton would fall upon evil days.
When Father Reidy was roofing the Abbey - Dr. McEvilly was Arch-Bishop of Tuam in which diocese Ballintubber is:
The Archbishop according to the tale prevented Fr.
