  1. Scarcely any woman in the olden times used to wear shoes, but the used to wear stockings with the soles cut off them and the used to call them cnestín's. Some of them would wear clogs or leather shoes going to mass, but the would take them off when they would come out of the church. Some of the people used to be nineteen and twenty years of age before the used to wear shoes.
