by the Irish people as the patron of animals. I heard the story of Saint Ciaran and his dun cow.
There is a holy well at Manulla which is about three miles south of this school. It is one of Saint Patrick's wells. We are told in history that St. Patrick uncovered a dolmen built over the holy well at Manulla in presence of a crowd of Druids. It was called "Slán" or the well of the healer and the church and parish were called Slanpatrick down to the 16th century.
