  1. Signs of the Weather
    If a cat sits with its back to the fire it is said to be a sign of rain or bad weather.
    A ring round the moon at night it is supposed to be a sign of rough or stormy weather.
    If the sun is of a red colour when it sets in the west, especially in Summer, it is said to be a sign of the next day being warm and fine.
    If a dog or cat is seen eating grass bad weather is supposed to be coming.
    If the salt is moist it is a sign of rain.
    If, when making the fire, the "gríosach" is noticed to be of a bluish or purple shade it is a sign of rain and bad weather.
