    the second holds clay and a third contains a ring. Each person is blindfolded on turn. The saucers are moved about and each one has to pick one of the saucers. If he puts his hand on the water he will cross the water within the year. If he leaves it on the clay he will die before the year is out and if he leaves it on the ring he will be married soon after.
    Another trick is also played. An apple is put hanging with a cord from a rafter. The apple is then put swinging. A boy has to catch it with his mouth and whatever boy gets it he has the apple. Two nuts are placed near the fire. The names of a man and a woman are mentioned. If the nuts burn together they will be married
