    got the site as was foretold to him in his dream.
    We are told that the buildings of the students covered twelve acres of ground. The old wall which enclosed this abbey is still to be seen. Students flocked to the monastery and tradition points to the green circular mount in the graveyard as the last resting place of King Alfred's son. This abbey was raided by the Danes.
