  1. A game played at wakes long ago. Ten or twelve lads would sit on the ground in the form of a ring and one of them would sit in the middle. One of the boys in the ring would get a straw sugán and tie a potatoe or some hard ball to the end of it. The boy that would have the sugán would strike the lad in the middle of the ring on the back, and then the sugán would be past round under their knees to some other boy. The person in the middle would turn round in the direction of the lad that struck him and the sugán would be at the other side of the ring and then some other one would strike him again with it.
