Cuchulainn's pillar stone. In a field, about two miles from Dundalk, and not far from Knockbridge, stands a pillar stone. We are told from local tradition that a giant died at this stone, and it is 'the; asserted that it is the death stone of Cuchulainn. The legend is that the hero having been fatally wounded would not give his enemies that satisfaction of seeing him fall, but bound himself by his girdle to a pillar stone and continued his last fight while life remained.
