There are four storeys, 3 above the ground and one under the ground, where the rich well-filled cellars were visited constantly by the waiters and servants for food and drink and beverage of all sorts. It is related by some old men in the districts that the food was rich at the time and well-cooked. Silver of the heaviest nature was used, spoons, knives, forks, plates etc. People came long distances some by road and some by the Shannon. It was a custom with the Proprietor of the Hotel to hire a man named John Fanneran a native of this place who had an ass and cart and he used to send him to the Ferry at the point near by to meet the passengers and take their luggage along to the Hotel. By the same token this one John Fanneran had a grand niece Lizzie Fanneran still living here.
