His name figured on every sports card in the south east in the seventies and early eighties, being one of the outstanding runners and high jumpers of his day, and let this be remembered, we had no take off or running shoes in those far off days. I have seen Johnny's trophies and prizes which would fill quite a good sized room. Like most of our countrymen Johnny Dee was no visionary and realised that life had to be met, so he emigrated to Australia in the middle of the eighties for a living where he died many years ago.
Ned Reilly who played second to Johnny Dee, I knew him well, square shouldered, standing six feet high on as straight a pair of feet as an artist would wish to paint. The high jump and wrestling were Ned's features and woe be to the man who challenged(continues on next page)- Collector
