  1. In the time of the Fenians, Diarmuid eloped with Gráinne, and the Fenians thought this a great crime. They followed Diarmuid and Gráinne.It so happened that the two who were eloping went into a cave in "scol na binne" in the townland of Knockatuna, to seek shelter for the night. In the morning Diarmuid heard the Fenians coming and Gráinne filled her apron with stones weighing over a ton. These she handed to Diarmuid one by one to throw at the Fenians when they were coming near.
