    Shallee Castle.
    Shallee Castle is situated about three miles north west of Ennis in the Parish of Kilnamona .About a hundred and fifty years ago after the great battle of Dysart (1318) in the year 1652 a civil war broke out between the rival princes of the O'Brien Family .Among the prisoners taken by the victorious party was Brian Dubh O Brien son of Conor Spóine Ó Brien .
    The Annals of the Four Masters state that Brian Dubh was ransomed by giving up Selgeor or Shallee and its castle to Tiege son of Murrough O Brien.
