  1. Long ago the people in my district lived in very small houses. The front of the kitchen was made of stone and mortar. The people of my district used to buy penny dips in the shops and used them as candles. The candles were not made locally.

  2. The houses were only one storey high and the walls were one yard thick. The most of the houses were thatched. They used to have a settle bed in each room long ago. They have a settle bed in each kitchen nowadays. The people used wood for fuel long ago.
