    builds no nest of her own, she lays her egg in the nest of another bird and when the great sprawling young cuckoo is hatched, it seizes all the food for itself and it pushes the other birds out of the nest altogether. The cuckoo sings only two notes "cuckoo" " cuckoo".

  2. The wood -cock is a migratory bird. They come late in the Autumn and remain during the Winter and part of the Spring, but some of them have been known to remain the whole year round and hatch here. They usually lay two eggs of a brown, earthy colour. They have a long bill and obtain their food by suction.
