  1. There is the ruin of an old church two miles outside Ardee and the above name is attached to it. The old church stands in a very ancient grave-yard and when it was in use it was a Catholic church and also a Catholic burying place.
    Now there lived in the locality a protestant family and one of this family died and the relatives wanted the remains buried inside the walls of the old church but those in authority would not allow this, but in spite of all the objections the protestant parties succeeded in having the remains buried inside the walls, where they desired.
