    was baked on a griddle. Meat, usually salted, was eaten two or three times a week. Much fish and vegetables were eaten. A good deal of fruit was eaten particularly apples and plums. Those fruits were nearly always eaten raw never cooked. Quern meal mixed with milk was much used. This mixture was called "praupeen." The Quern meal was ground at home. People never ate late at night.
    There was an old custom of eating fish on St. Patricks Day. On Shrove Tuesday meat and pan cakes were eaten. On Ash-Wednesday and Good Friday, eggs, milk, butter, cheese or meat were not allowed to be used.
    Tea was first used by farmers about 75 years ago.. Rich people
