    Before the potatoes can be sown they must be cut into pieces and each piece containing two eyes is called a pciotan. The local people help each other in sowing the potatoes. The farmer and his men pick the potatoes. They are picked into baskets, which in turn are emptied into a cart. This cart is brought to where pit is made and in turn is emptied into the pit. The pit is made either small or big, according to the amount of potatoes the farmer has.
    There are various kinds of potatoes sown in this place. The principal ones are, Shamrocks, Arran Chiefs, Aran Banners, Arran Counsuls, Champions, Skerny Champions, Epicures and Kerr's Pinks. The land in this
