  1. Weather
Before the use of instruments for forecasting the weather became known, the people had to judge the time and weather by the sun, moon, stars, clouds, rainbow, wind, birds, animals, natural features, insects and smoke. Some of the signs that the people have are. When the sun is dull it is a sign of rain. if there is a halo around the moon it is a sign of rain.
If an unusually great number of stars, including shooting stars, can be seen it foretells frost.
If you watch a small cloud in the sky, and if it gets small and disappears from sight it is a sign of fine weather.
