The horses are given mangolds, hay, and oats to eat. They are shoed in a forge. The shoes are made of iron with five holes in each shoe through which the nails are driven to fasten the shoe to the hoof.
On a farm also fowl is kept. Before the hens are set their feet is dipped in cold water. There are thirteen eggs set for hatching under each hen. On some eggs a stamp is put before hatching.- Collector
