    Cormack the local carpenter made some of the wooden ploughs. It is about seventy years ago since they were made. The spades that are used now are bought in shops. Mr Byrne used to make wooden spades.
    The potatoes must be cut for seed and two eyes are left in each division of the potatoe which is commonly called "scilawn" a word which comes from the Irish. The local people help each other sowing the potatoes. The farmer and his helpers pick the potatoes. The potatoes are picked into a basket, then they are put into a cart, and then into a pit. The oit is made by digging a sod about six inches thick and as long as desired. First of all straw is put over the potatoes, and over this clay. The
