  1. Long ago in this district the people made partitions of turf and in order to make it firm they used Doughbuide. They bound the sods together or plaster them with the Doughbuide in the same way as mortar is now used. Others made (turf) beds of turf. They built a long sort of settle with the turf and placed a tick of straw on it.
