    1 If the river is of a dark colour there will be plenty of rain.
    2 If the clouds are black and moving slowly, you may be sure of a wet day.
    3 If the crows fly around in a ring near the ground, it will rain very hard.
    4 If you see a curlew on a harvest day, be sure to bring your coat with you.
    5 If the moon lies on its back, or if you see a circle around it, it is a sure sign of rain.
    6 To hear a stream or a train roaring the coming week will be wet.
    7 If the smoke stays in the kitchen or flies along the ground, it will be raining the next day.
    8 If a thin fog is on the ground on a winters morning it will rain.
    9 If the stars shine clearly on a frosty night the next day will be warm.
    10 If the moon shines clearly in the summer time it will be fine weather.
    11 If it is raining in the morning or during the day, and if the cock crows at 10 o'clock, or at 12 o'clock or at 4 o'clock it will get fine.
    12 If the smoke goes up into the clouds straight it will be a fine day.
