  1. The pheasants build their nests in a bunch of rushes or in a meadow. The eggs that they lay are blue. The pheasant sits one month on the eggs and then the little pheasants come out. The plumage is remarkable for its bright and varied colours; the upper parts of the head and neck of the male bird are of deep purple shaded with green and blue and the breast of rich chestnut and the back of mingled tints of orange. She has a long and handsome tail. The sides of the head shine with brilliant colours.
