    grandmother. There was another school situated in the townland of Diffin, Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim and the remains of it are there yet. The teacher who taught in this school was Patrick Shanaghy. In all these schools they taught outside in the Summer and inside in the Winter. The name of some of the books which they used were the "reading made easy" and the Universal.

  2. About eighty years ago there was a road made from Carrigallen to Mohill. This is in good repair yet and is known as Eage's broad road. The engineer on this road was a man named Eages and that is how it got its name. When he was about to start it a man said to him that it would take a lot of money to do it and he said that a pound would be
