  1. (continued from previous page)
O'er crimson ground bestrewn with dead
Until no living foe was found
To front him on the battle ground
    Remember Benburb's gory fields
Where great Owen Roe made Saxon yield
    And with his mighty sword
Caused hair and skin to fly althrough the air,
Remember Limerick where the women stood
Upon the breach with courage good.
And fought like the [?] train
That fell the greecians[?] on the trogan plain
    Remember too and imitable
    The Wexford men of '98
That in triumph their colours bore
On twenty battle fields and more,
    Remember its decreed on high
That you have only once to die
And if in freedom cause your slain
    Eternal life you will obtain
So let your valour merit praise
    (Verses 11 and 12 lost)
