  1. In the village of Tysaxon the time of the Finanna rising in 1846 there lived a Saxon named Manus Tighe. He was a strong opposer of the rebels for that was the name that was given by the English land-owners to the Fianna. He had arranged with with the landlord Major Hall to meet him at a certain grove of trees between Tysaxon and Currantarimid, but he never got there for he was shot by Dermot Murphy of Tiaguin who was a steward at Halls and who heard of Tighe's prospect of going to meet the land lord and shot him.
