    There is a fort in Jack Flaherty's land and about fifty years ago if anyone wanted to go into the fort field they should at first walk about the fort three times or they would have some mark before three days.

    one day and he had often heard the story so he said he would not obey it and he went into the field with his dogs. Out from the fort came a black hare. The dogs followed him he ran round the fort three times and then ran towards the man, hit the man's leg and then went into the fort. The man went home. Next morning when he went about to get up his leg was stiff and a half foot shorter and the dogs were dead. His brother got angry and went to the fort with a slasher when the hare came near him he drew with the slasher and cut the head off the hare. The hare at once changed into a man and it was his father said why had he done that. He told him what had happened his brother. Then his father said wait to wait a minute and he would cure him and he got a little box in the fort
