    Long ago there lived a poor farmer and his name was John Galvin.

    the landlord's house. He paid the money all right but on his way he had a bad time. He had to come through a lonely part of the country. On the road he met a lovely girl. She looked like a queen. She gave him a fine sword and she told him to keep that always and it would get him out of all dangers. When he was in the middle of his lonely place he heard noise in the bushes. It was wild cats, they started jumping up on the horse's tail and on every part of the horse. He used to cut them down with his sword. He got out of them all right until he came home. He told his story to his wife and he put his horse into a stable. When he came in he sat down at the table and ate his supper. They had a little cat and he would go out through a keyhole of
