  1. There is only one man living in the Parish now who was able to make the baskets used by the farmers for carrying potatoes, turf, turnips, etc.
    He is Michael Lally, BaslleTown(?). These baskets were made of hazel rods. He only made baskets for his own house, or obliged a neighbor. He didn't work for hire.
    Mike Power (Gort) who is already referred to made his living by basket making. Baskets made by Power are still in use in the district.
