  1. About six miles from Tuam stands the ruins of Blake's Castle. It stands in the village of Partymore. This village got its name from the party which the soldiers had the time they visited it. They had a meeting here and people say that their horses left the track of their shoes on flags which are outside the castle. This is said to be the nearest place to Tuam that Cromwell visited.
