  1. About thirty eight years ago there was a great storm which uprooted all the trees on Turvey Avenue, not even one tree being left standing. It also did a great deal of damage to farmhouses and haystacks. Nearly all the telephone poles and wires were blown down. Some of the old thatched houses were badly stripped. There were no lives lost in that storm.
