    saying Mass he had people watching for him for fear they would be put to death by the English soldiers. When the English soldiers were banishing the nuns from Turvey they cried out "Grace a Dieu" that is how it got its name. If the Irish people in those days were caught attending Mass they would be put to death. Some priests said Mass on the side of the hill or on a flat rock which they used as an Altar.
