    Toys made Locally.
    (Skerries, Co. Dublin.)
    Some of the toys made by local children are, a spinning top which is made out of an old thread spool, model aeroplanes which are made out of scraps of wood, and dolls out of rags or straw. The boys generally go in for hunting. Some of the traps are for rats. We place an ash stick in the ground beside the hole with a horse hair out of the stick. Then tie the stick to a tuft of grass, and when the rat comes out of the hole he catches in the hair. It immediately swings up and the rat hangs. We know
