    It is said that when the Holy Family were fleeing from Herod's soldiers St. Joseph's feet began to bleed on the sharp flints. The little robin knew that the trail of blood would betray the Holy Family to the soldiers, so he flew so that his breast wiped the blood off the ground. It is said that the mark of the blood was left on his breast, and that is how he got the red breast.
    Other people say that when Our Lord was dying on the cross the robin touched on of His wounds, and so got his red breast. When the Holy Family
