    Festival Customs (Hallow Eve)
    Skerries, Co. Dublin
    On the 1st November many games are played such as - jumping for the apple and dipping for the six pence. An apple is tied by a piece of string, then the string is tied to a nail in the ceiling. Then each person tries to get the first bite from the apple. The next game is the dipping for the six pence. A six pence is put into a basin full of water then every person gets his turn to dip his head down into the water to try and grip the money in his mouth. This is one of the principal festivals
