    The "Gombeen Man."
    Skerries, Co. Dublin.
    Long ago, any man who had a considerable sum of money would generally spend it wisely. Some of them would give a small sum of it each week, to any old person who had property, or land, or anything of any value. When the old people would die they would get the property.
    Sometimes when anyone would have property and no money, anybody with money would give them about a quarter of what it would be worth, then they would give about ten pounds to the person and then they would demand the property is the owners were not able to given them their
