    Skerries Co. Dublin.
    Hundred of years ago it was said there lived in Lock Dearg a terrible monster. Many a brave hero was killed trying to conquer it. But one Knight said he would not eat a bite till he killed it. So he went forth in his armour to the shore of Loch Dearg. There a terrific battle took place which raged for several hours. But at last the knight gave the monster a blow and severed its head from its shoulders. It is said that the lake went red with blood, and
