    the second night. When they had obtained this they remained there until the others carrying the corpse arrived and then they all set off together.
    Now when the old man was waking the corpse he kept on a bright fire and the door was wide open. In the middle of the night a goat came in on the door and on looking around he saw the corpse and attacked it with his horns. They old man tried to chase the goat but he would not go out, so he got a huge bacan of a stick to punish it. Still it fought with him, until in the end he gave it a severe blow and killed it. He then dragged it to the street and returned to his post. In the morning the men saw what had taken place while they slept and were very much surprised to hear of the occurrence. Nevertheless they set out for Loughrous Point but they stopped another night at Glengesh, and nothing untoward took place. On the third day leaving Glengesh they knew that they would complete the journey, but they did not know where the burial ground was if there was any. They walked on straight for Loughrous Point and when they came to a sort of crossroads half way down Loughrous they stopped. Not knowing which way to go they held a consultation and they agreed that if there was a burial ground in Loughrous Point at all it would
