was considered a rackrenter. Farms were divided among members of the family on marriage. Ballyvooney was at one time owned by one man now it is owned by three different farmers. The Land Lords exercised special power over his tenants; no man was allowed to hunt or have any kind of races on his own farm and the Land Lord could raise the rent at will until the land laws were passed curtailing his power.
