- (continued from previous page)The men working in the lime kilns used to cart it up to the kilns when the tide went out and burned the stone into lime. Then the farmers used draw it away for manure for the land as there was no artificial manure in those days. The lime kiln in Ballyvooney is much older than the two in Stradbally. In older times they used dance on top of Ballyvooney lime kiln. There was a song composed about it which ran thus:Will you come to Ballyvooney
