  1. In the year 47 there was a great failure of the potato crop in Ireland which caused a famine and starvation in the country. Hundreds of people were dying of hunger as the potato crop and sour milk were then principal food. In the year 46 the potatoes were so plentiful that the people refused to dig them. (In the year 46) They let them rot in the ground and that caused the anger of God and the failure of the crop on black 47.
