  1. Long ago all the houses were thatched. There used to be two or three doors in each house. The floor was made out of clay. Long ago in every house there was a half-door.
    Some people had the turf for the fire. They used to sleep in old timber beds and there were called "Timber Bares" by the old people. The roof was made for the houses out of thatch. The fireplace was generally in the centre of the middle wall.
