    10. For a cure for a headache people used to (give) tie a ribbon round their heads.
    11. For a cure for a sore throat tie a paper with coarse salt on it round the neck.

    13. A cure for a black eye is to put a lump of steel on on it.
    14. For a cough. Dip a lemon in brown sugar and suck it.
    15. For a sty, bless yourself with a wedding ring three times on the eye and look through it
    16. For a thorn in your finger get a jug of hot water and put your finger into it.
    17. A cure for a wart is to cut a potatoe in to halves and rub it to your wart and it will go away.
    18. If you have a sty on your eye put a few tea leaves on the eye and it will be cured.
    19. If you have the whooping cough drink ass's milk.
    20. Get two lumps of lime and put them into a bucket of water and leave them there till they are nearly soaked. Take them out of the bucket and put them into a jug of spring water and leave it there for a week.
